F1 Spanish Grand Prix Tickets

Located 20 km north of the city, the Circuit de Catalunya is one of the most familiar circuits on the Grand Prix calendar and is used a great deal by the Formula One racing teams for testing throughout the year.

That familiarity, however, does not make the track any less of a challenge. Built in 1991, it features a long straight and numerous high-speed corners, as well as a rather undulating surface, which can make finding the optimum set-up tricky. Popular with spectators, overtaking is not uncommon, particularly into the sharp right-hander at the end of the start-finish straight.

The Barcelona circuit, constructed as part of the city’s Olympic development programme, held its first Grand Prix in 1991 and was hailed an immediate success after Nigel Mansell won a thrilling race for Williams in the wet. Schumacher took his first Spanish win in 1995 and followed that with a back to back win in 1996. After a three year Hakkinen domination Schumacher won the event again between 2001 and 2004. 2005 had great expectations for Alonso, resulting in a sellout at the circuit, although he followed Raikkonen in to take second place.
